Limb Vineyards Single Vineyard Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016

  • Winemaker: Ivan Thomas Limb

    Variety: Shiraz

    Region: Barossa Valley (Single Vineyard)

    Winemaker’s Notes

  • Colour: Dense, vibrant purple red colour.

  • Bouquet: Brooding Shiraz with ripe, sweet fruit notes of plum, blackberry and pepper on the nose.

  • Palate: This wine illustrates exactly how I have been handcrafting premium red wine for my entire life, in the vineyard. The terror and microclimate of specific blocks produce something different year with the obvious characters of this vintage being robust fleshy fruit. The ripe mouth filling berry and cinnamon spice flavours, along with oak derived mocha overtones and soft yet well defined tannins ensure a high drinkable and moreish style of Barossa Shiraz.

  • Cellaring Potential: Although I am drinking this wine now and it is drinking very well I will keep some boxes in the cellar for many years to come.

  • Winemaking Details: Picking started earlier than usual when I felt the colour and baume levels were at an optimum then the grapes were gently crushed and fermented in my small capacity open top fermenters for 7 days with plunging twice daily. The wine was then pressed and drained off into some new and old French and American hogsheads’ for 12 months prior to bottling. This wine encapsulates Barossa Valley Shiraz the way it should be, an honest reflection of the vineyard where it was grown.
