Songlines Estate - Leylines Chardonnay 2018

  • Variety: Chardonnay

    Region: South Australia

    Winemaker's Notes

  • Colour: Bright florescent olive green to pale straw colour.

  • Bouquet: Stone fruit, citrus and cantaloupe flavours combine with natural fruit acid and some depth appears in the form of yeast as a result of lees stirring. Finely structured wine it has a soft texture and good length with an elegant finish.

  • Palate: There is significant complexity for such a young wine, which builds on the mid palate with stone fruit and citrus flavours forthcoming.

  • Cellaring: The obvious finesse and length of this wine will show early in its life and continue to drink well over the medium term. Drink now and cellar for the short term

  • THE WINEMAKING
Leylines is made with the same meticulous care and attention as Songlines and Bylines but with a smaller price tag. The grapes come from a single vineyard, which is younger than those used for Songlines and Bylines and the fruit has been specifically hand chosen for its approachability as a young wine. Harvested at dawn the grapes were transported to the winery and immediately whole bunch pressed followed by fermentation where individual batches underwent lees stirring to build body. Once filtered the wine was bottled to capture the full fruit flavours and ensure the complexity of the wine was highlighted in its youth.

  • Alc/Vol: 13.0%
